A Bit of Background
Doa Tatu Africa is a for-profit social enterprise that seeks to solve two critical Sustainable Development Goals; Food wastage and Hunger, through innovation and technology. It was founded by Dennis Owino Onono, who is passionate about solving issues that affect the poor in developing countries. He has spent over 10 years of his career working with social enterprises in East Africa, that tackle large social issues for the BoP in different operational and leadership capacities. At Doa Tatu Africa, we are driven by a single goal; To do our part in making the world a better place for all. We have a strong passion for People and the Planet. Our business model, processes and decision making is informed by comprehensive field pilots and tests and high-quality data evaluation to ensure that we are true to our mission. We strive to build productive ecosystems in our regions of operations, build long-term relationships and make a positive impact especially for women with all of our pursuits.
OUR MODEL
According to the FAO, the world’s population wastes ⅓ of the food it produces or about 1.3 billion tons per year. The UN’s Food and Agriculture organization states in a new report that 124 million people in 51 countries experienced high levels of food insecurity.
